That thing you do that you hate? It's a pattern.

You probably already know why you do it. You just want ways to do it differently. What you need is a system, something that changes the way your brain works on all levels.

Here it is.

Is it fun? Probably not.

Does it work? I guarantee it.

You don't need me to tell you what your issues are.

You already know what they are. You've been lugging around your stuck patterns forever and working on them for almost as long.

You've thrown time, money and energy at them. It's been okay. You've learned lots and had some good "aha!" moments along the way -- you just haven't yet been able to translate these mental understandings into the new patterns and habits that can actually serve you.

I bet we can change that.

The Habits Detective: the 90 day program that will fix the problem pattern.

The Habits Detective program is designed to help you resolve that problem pattern you've been dealing with for years -- once and for all.

Three months of learning, breakthroughs and steady practicing of proven techniques. After 90 days, you'll know exactly what's going on for you, what to do about and you'll be doing it. Because you'll have a system. Real and lasting change guaranteed.

Grr, stupid "staying in the process" ... do I have to?

I know! It's hard! Even with the best techniques in the world, it's still hard to get motivated to actually use them.

There is nothing like a moment of epiphany to spark your world (it's amazing!), but the ability to sustain the excitement, the knowledge and the learning from the epiphany ... that's the work of every day life. It doesn't end. And that can be kind of miserable.

But when you have the right tools, the right support and a plan that is dead on target, it gets a lot easier. That's where the detective work comes in.

What's with the whole detective thing again?

If you want to figure out how to rewrite your patterns for good, you need to know more about how they work. About how you function. It's not like therapy where you spend a 50-minute hour learning about yourself. Or like yoga where you spend a 65-minute hour learning about your breath and your body. It's more like being that hard-boiled gumshoe who is always on the case.

Think Philip Marlowe, only hell-bent on the path of self-inquiry, self-discovery and self-healing. The detective is intrigued by the story, driven by the mystery, eager for clues. And even when you're off-duty, you're on-duty.

The case doesn't cease to exist when the work day is over. Even when you're at that bar nursing your pint of low-fat milk, it's still eyes peeled and ears pricked, you know what I'm saying? And you find stuff. Clues fall into your lap.

Follow the threads

When you are a detective everything is interesting because everything is potentially of value.

Noticing and observing, analyzing and double-checking, allowing everything to be potentially significant; all of these abilities help you be the best private eye you can be. This attitude helps you figure out how you tick, why you "work" the way they do and what it all means in relation to the patterns that you are trying to resolve.

The best part is that this attitude creates focus and perspective. It demands mindfulness. Face it, sometimes you learn stuff about yourself that you would really rather not know! It's easy to forget to be in the process and default to berating yourself instead for being such a loser. When you're a detective, though, you get to say: "Aha! A clue. How very interesting. I will keep watch to determine what more I can find out!".

Your mission should you choose to accept it. . .

Take the case. Go undercover. Get help.

Hey, the way you're doing it right now isn't working. I wish it were. And I bet you are closer than you realize, but there's still something missing.

There's no use doing it halfway. You might as well get trained in the best self-investigation techniques there are. Forget about this method or that method. I'm talking about a complete system for doing things differently. Learn how to access creative solutions that resolve your issues and help you stay on track long after you've closed any particular case.

You're not alone. You need a side-kick. A hot dame. Well, more like a team.

Yup, that's me and my photogenic co-teacher Selma (I'm the one that isn't a duck). She knows she's a knock-out and can sometimes be more trouble than she's worth. But she's good at what she does. And we're on your team.

Self-investigation is our game. I have had -- and resolved -- just about every habit worth having and have taught hundreds of people. Selma is a master of obscure zen techniques and can talk you down when the going gets tough. We don't make coffee, sure, but that's just the way it goes.

Also, occasionally we overdose on film noir and can't stop talking like that. Sorry.

Pam Slim Cubicle Nation

Smart, creative people with tremendous gifts to share with the world are often the MOST likely to get stuck in what Havi calls "debilitating inner criticism" and "depressing self-sabotage".

For this reason, I am so glad that she is sharing her no-fluff, inspiring, useful and revolutionary tactics for breaking out of a state of stuck . I can't wait to share them with my blog readers, and to use them frequently myself!

Here is the deal

We move in on your problem habit. And we train you in specific techniques that address every aspect of the patterns that make up your habit, and work through it systematically. We'll help you figure out exactly what you need to do, and then create and institute the perfect PLAN for rebuilding and restructuring the way you do things.

The time you spend worrying about your pattern, agonizing over it, struggling with it and procrastinating on it is all time you could be using to do the thing you need to be doing. It's frustrating, I know. That's where this work comes in.

I will walk you through the process of stepping out of your default patterns of anger, fear, resentment and stress. You'll practice exercises that I normally only do with my private clients. And you'll learn and polish the skill sets that are absolutely necessary for doing some serious untangling.

This newly revamped super-intense three month training has everything you need to make it work: a system, a support network and built-in accountability.

I will share my knowledge and techniques with you in an organized, systematic way that works with the way you learn. You'll get to work not only with me, but also your group, a support buddy (if you want one) as well as a variety of smart, interesting, talented guest experts and coaches.

These are all people I greatly respect and admire, who really truly know their stuff.
And ... a present from me (something beautiful which I send to you and which you get to use as a constant, steady reminder that you're in this process of doing stuff differently.

What if I have a bunch of worries and what ifs?

That makes sense. That's your inner distress talking. It's a safety mechanism that is trying to keep you from doing something stupid. In general it's a good thing and occasionally (or often) it also gets in your way by leading you into distraction through self-criticism, self-doubt and self-sabotage.

One of the things we learn in this course is how to recognize when you are getting in your own way and how to neutralize this. If you recognize your internal distress mechanism trying to distract you with its familiar litany of "oh, it's too much" and "oh, there is never enough" this is a sign that you are ready to engage in this process.

Distraction #1: "I don’t have the time to do this stuff."

If you really don't have time then yes, maybe it isn't for you. On the other hand, what if it's not really about that?

Every day that you aren't working to resolve your habits you are exacerbating them and reinforcing them. When you don't have a direction, a method, tools or a plan, you are going in circles.

When you can step out of your default patterns, you aren't second-guessing yourself. You aren't distracted. You get more done and you get it done better. If anything, this work will save you time.

Distraction #2: "This is too much at once."

Yes, getting ready to work on your stuff can be pretty overwhelming.

Luckily, working on your issues and figuring out how you really tick is a life-long process. When you learn how to go about it with the right mindset and what the tools are that can help you provide a response to your internal distress, you can actually grow into this process at your own pace.

Distraction #3: "I can't afford this."
That's a frustrating feeling too. Again, it's your call as to whether now is the right time.

All I can say is that the ability to resolve your stuck patterns is one that will serve you for your entire life. This isn't about what it's worth to you to stop being hooked on sugar or to sleep well at night for once. This is about knowing how you work and being able to change your behavior and attitude at will; to interact with yourself and motivate yourself in a kind, supportive and intentional way. Because you want to.

Distraction #4: "I don't know if I'm ready. I'm just not really not sure about this."

No problem. You don’t have to be sure yet because I give you a 100% stress-free risk-free guarantee. If you're not impressed after two months, I'll give you your money back.

The prerequisites (important!)

This program isn't for everyone. It's for bright, thoughtful people who are serious about developing a self-work process to work through their "stuff" and do the thing they're meant to do. And there is stuff I expect you to know before you get started. So there is a little bit of hoop-jumping to ensure that we're all on the same page and working with the same concepts. I apologize for the extra work, but it's important.

Prerequisite #1
In order to take part in the Habits Detective Training Program, you need to already have the Emergency Calming Techniques package (or the Procrastination Dissolve-o-Matic). That's so we're all on board with the same key concepts and you'll have the foundation to help you really go deep with this program.

If you don't have one of these please take care of that right away. If you already working with my concepts and material, you'll find this course very powerful. Having the right foundation means you'll get way more benefit from the more advanced techniques that are designed to help you work through your "stuff".

Prerequisite #2
In addition, you will need to have attended at least one Habits Detective teleclass (click here for a free invitation to one right now). Please note that signing up for the teleclass does not imply a commitment on your part to taking this course, and it certainly does not guarantee you a space in the group training program.

Prerequisite #3
One more thing. You need to have a personal practice of some sort (or are willing to start one).
Yoga, dance, Tai Chi, Aikido, meditation . . . you spend intentional time doing conscious movement or inner listening or something that combines those.

It doesn't matter what kind of practice it is, and (if you don't already have one) I'm happy to make suggestions or give tips. It's also okay if that's the habit you want to establish in this program. But we definitely will combine stuff for the body and mind in our work together. Expect it.

Crank it up (if you like) with the VIP (Very Intentional Person) option

There is also a"VIP" option (yes, that's "Very Intentional Person" and yes, I'm a yoga person and I sometimes say stuff like that).

However you want to acronym it (and yes, I also use nouns as verbs), what it means is that you get to email me as often as you'd like with any aspect of your process and I help you out. This is worth so much more than anything else in the program if you take me up on it.

If you don't think you're going to take advantage of it, please don't do it. Let someone else have it. This option is limited to 8 people. First come first serve.

"I can't get over how unbelievably helpful working with you has been. Every time I felt down or challenged and went to you I got a thoughtful, insightful, useful response infused with your typical transparent, loving acceptance and felt instantly better about everything."

Jill Shaw
